Fittings are an important part of the bespoke armour experience. While not essential, they will allow for a 100% fit first time, permit any last minute minor tweaks and changes to be made and add to the overall experience of ordering bespoke armour.
The best time to conduct a fitting is once the work is roughed out prior to polishing and fluting; naturally the fitting should be done over the exact clothing and materials that you intend to wear under the armour. This way we can check that everything is on track and being accurately constructed for a comfortable fit. Additionally, carrying out a fitting at this time allows for an accurate baseline of measurements to be established for all further work to return to – as the addition of fluting, creases &c can cause the work to change its shape a little.
If required a second fitting can be carried out once the armour is almost completed. Once polished and prior to final assembly a second fitting allows any minor adjustments to be made guaranteeing an up to the minute fit.
Principally fittings are carried out at the workshops in Fareham, Hants. However we trade at various markets up and down the country throughout the year and frequently do fittings at them for customers – allowing the additional luxury of being able to do extra shopping. Ordinarily we can always be found at the International Living History Fair at the Bruntingthorpe Proving Grounds.
